On Monday, October 16, 2017, Miloš Olík, a partner of our law firm, sat on an expert panel at the annual CIETAC conference in Hong Kong. As part of the block focused on experience gained from working as an arbitrator, Miloš Olík spoke about the differences in the negotiation and settlement techniques used by arbitrators and mediators.
In his segment, he summed up the main differences between the two methods of dispute settlement and focused primarily on the possibility of using some mediation techniques in arbitration proceedings, which could contribute to amicable settlements of disputes.
The conference was attended by a large number of alternative dispute resolution specialists from around the world. Apart from sharing knowledge from practice, visitors also had the chance to make many new contacts.
