The ROWAN LEGAL team successfully represented Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH) before the European Commission regarding the approval of the acquisition of sole control over Slovenské elektrárne.
This was a complex case involving acquisition of Enel’s stake in Slovenské elektrárne. This company is the largest electricity producer in Slovakia. There was also a change of joint control to sole control.
The notification of the acquisition included both merger control proceedings as well as the notification under the foreign subsidies regulation (FSR). In the respective proceedings, our team applied comprehensive legal arguments and demonstrated expertise in the functioning of the energy market.
We have ultimately successfully obtained clearances in both regulatory streams before the European Commission, enabling the acquisition’s implementation.
The case was handled by the ROWAN LEGAL team consisting of Vilém Podešva, Jiří Mňuk, David Mrózek, and David Svoboda.
