ROWAN LEGAL has long been recognized as one of the most established firms in the Czech legal market. Looking back in time, what do you consider the most defining moments or strategic decisions that have shaped the firm’s current identity and reputation?
ROWAN LEGAL was founded in 1990, just after the Velvet Revolution, at a time when the Czech legal landscape was undergoing profound transformation. From the very beginning, the firm positioned itself at the intersection of law, technology, and public policy – areas that were not only underserved but also critical for the country’s modernization.
Over the past decade, several strategic decisions have been particularly defining. First, we have made a conscious effort to expand our practice portfolio in a way that balances tradition with innovation. Our long-standing strengths in IT, intellectual property, TMT, dispute resolution, and public procurement have been complemented by robust growth in areas like M&A, real estate, competition, and labour law. These are not just add-ons, but now constitute integral parts of our offering, supported by deep expertise and growing client demand.
Second, we have invested heavily in building a collaborative, multidisciplinary leadership team. We have never operated under a single managing partner model; rather, each of our equity partners is an expert in a distinct area, entrusted with responsibility for their domain, and each brings their own unique perspective and style.
