Miloš Olík

Miloš Olík is the head of the Dispute Resolution Department at ROWAN LEGAL.

His practice focuses on arbitration, including international commercial arbitrations, investment disputes and various forms of alternative dispute resolution (mediation, negotiation).

Miloš Olík has many years of experience in arbitration proceedings under the rules of various institutions,

such as the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Arbitration Court of the Economic and Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic (RSHKAK) and the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Law (UNCITRAL). He has even led legal teams representing states in investment disputes and multinational companies in international commercial arbitrations.

 

Miloš Olík has also acted as an arbitrator in more than 200 arbitration proceedings,

including investment disputes (incl. two cases under ICSID rules). He is registered on the list of Arbitration Court attached to the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic and leading international institutions (e.g. SIAC, CIETAC, LCIA, VIAC, HKIAC, MIAC). Miloš is the vice-chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Czech Republic, chairman of the Arbitration Council of the Football Association of the Czech Republic, member of the Board of the National Court of Arbitration for Sport and a member of many other professional associations and organizations.

 

Miloš Olík is listed in the Arbitration Ranking jointly organized by Who’s Who Legal and GAR

(Global Arbitration Review). He has been ranked by the prestigious international ranking Chambers Global in Band 2 for dispute resolution and arbitration in the Czech Republic.

 

Miloš Olík is also the author or co-author of numerous professional publications,

such as the Commentary on the New York Convention, the Commentary on the Arbitration Act, the Commentary on the Mediation Act and the prestigious chapter for the Czech Republic in the ICCA Handbook on Commercial Arbitration.

Leading car manufacturer

Represented a leading car manufacturer in a dispute with a former supplier, worth tens of millions of CZK.

Representation

Represented clients in arbitration proceedings for damages under bilateral agreements on the promotion and mutual protection of investments and under the Energy Charter Agreement in the field of promotion of renewable energy production.

Czech mobile operator

Represented a major Czech mobile operator in two disputes concerning claims for compensation against two former sales representatives.

Ministry of Regional Development

Represented the Ministry of Regional Development in a dispute with Generali Pojišt’ovna regarding alleged defamation. The plaintiff claimed damages of CZK 18 million from his client.

City of Prague

Represented a client, the City of Prague, in a number of disputes arising out of the Opencard project.

Large construction company

In arbitration proceedings, represented a large construction company in a dispute arising out of the construction of a motorway corridor worth more than CZK 4.5 billion.
