Samuel Král focuses his practice on legal advice in the areas of IT law, cybersecurity, intellectual property, franchising and general business-to-business contracts. His clients are Czech and international companies from the IT, online services, financial services and manufacturing sectors.

Samuel Král also studied in England and, before joining ROWAN LEGAL, he worked for 2 years at the international law firm Baker McKenzie and before that for more than 4 years at Havel & Partners.

Samuel is accredited by the Industrial Property Office to provide the IP Scan service for the Ideas Powered for Business – SME Fund grant programme, which offers assistance to SMEs based in the European Union to obtain grants for IP Scan and trademark, patent and design applications.

Samuel is a frequent speaker at local and international conferences, is a PhD student at the Institute of Copyright Law at Charles University in Prague, Department of Civil Law, where he teaches Substantive Civil Law and participates in teaching courses in the field of intellectual property and media law. Samuel is also the author of several dozen academic and popular articles, mostly in the field of intellectual property law and cybersecurity.

Representing a government entity in the conclusion of a contract for the support, operation and development of an information and communication system with a performance volume of around CZK 500 million per year.

Advising one of the largest banks on the implementation of banking outsourcing and cloud-based systems related to its operations.

Representing a public administration entity in concluding a contract for the support, operation and development of an information system in the field of basic registers with a performance volume of hundreds of millions of CZK per year – this involved negotiations with 3 suppliers for 3 interconnected systems.

Representing the client in participation in the performance of a public contract for the support and development of a public administration information system with a performance volume of hundreds of millions of CZK per year.

Legal advice to a public administration entity in drafting contractual templates for IT public procurement, including implementation of terms and conditions according to cyber security regulations.

Legal advice to several ministries on public procurement contracts for the implementation, support and development of the state administration’s information system. For example, in the implementation of Service Desk solutions, electronification of agencies, process management within the framework of electronified agencies, etc., with performance volumes ranging from CZK 60 million to CZK 500 million.

Acting for a supplier in negotiating turnkey modular data center contracts for one of the largest industrial data center operators/vendors.

Representing one of the largest automotive companies in domain name disputes in several EU countries.

Acting for one of the largest consumer electronics manufacturers (mobile phones, computers, handsets, accessories), cosmetics manufacturers and luxury clothing manufacturers in enforcing their industrial property rights in customs, criminal and civil proceedings, including representation before courts and relevant authorities.

Advising video streaming service providers on the legal regulations of streaming in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Legal advice to one of the largest streaming platforms on the creation of a series in the Czech Republic.

Advising online platforms on the application of liability for user-uploaded content, including the implementation and implications of the Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.

Advising clients on open source and free software licenses, including software-defined infrastructure based on open source solutions.
